Cancer Research Podcasting Competition - lesson idea

I have heard from Cancer Research and have copied the e-mail below.  It occurs to me that this would make a good basis for lessons in KS4 as well as allowing your best to be entered into the Cancer Research competition.

This year, we are running a podcasting competition, aimed at 14-16 year olds. The competition is called “SciencePod” and the idea is for entrants make a short podcast on one of four health-related topics:

·        Diet and cancer – does it matter what we eat?

·        Should smoking be totally banned?

·        Is the cervical cancer vaccine a good idea?

·        Should under 18s be allowed to use sunbeds?

The theme of this year’s competition links particularly well to the Science in Society section of “How Science Works”.

The competition launches on the 7th March and will run until 30th April, and is open to GCSE students. Full details, including background information on all the topics, is available on our website http://www.sciencepod.org.uk.

Kindest regards,

Josephine
