Please note that schools need to approve holidays during term time - approval of such requests should not be taken for granted. The testing times for national curriculum assessments (Key Stage One and Two) and GCSE / A Levels and mock examinations also need to be taken into account - pupils should not be absent during these tests.
The term dates for the school years 2010/11, 2011/12, 2012/13 & 2013/14 have been determined by Kent County Council following consultation with schools, education forums, trade unions, parents and governors’ representatives. The term dates for the school years 2010/11 and 2011/12 reflect announcements by Government regarding bank holidays for:
The LA sets the term dates for all community, community special and voluntary controlled schools. Governing bodies of foundation and voluntary aided schools are responsible for setting their own term dates. Academies (and free schools) have the freedom to change the length of terms. However, we hope all schools will continue to work within this common calendar.
Staff Training Days
Please note: Schools determine the days when schools are closed for staff training days. Parents/carers are therefore advised to confirm the actual term dates with their child's/children's school(s).
Most exam dates are not set more than a year in advance, but they do tend to follow the same pattern every year.
11+ tests normally take place in mid-September, but the dates are fixed and published in April each year. You can find the latest information here: Kent Test (eleven-plus).
Key Stage 1 & 2 tests are sat during May every year.
