Kent Healthy Schools

Kent Healthy Schools has made a difference to the health and achievement of young people in hundreds of schools across Kent. 591 (92%) of schools in Kent now hold National Healthy Schools Status (NHSS) and: Children and young people in Healthy Schools tell us that they feel healthier, happier and safer. Their parents tell us that they feel more involved in their children’s health and learning and often feel better themselves.

Schools tell us that being a Healthy School has helped to reduce health inequalities and promote inclusion; and has brought sustained improvement in behaviour, standards of work and school management.

The Healthy Schools programme will continue to develop locally to meet the needs of schools. The following pages will tell you how and why.Primary Care Trusts without who this work would not have been possible.
